2 minute relaxation technique


This is a technique I like to use when I need to relax. Sometimes it can be hard to stop our minds from running wild with plans, worries and just general thoughts. Paying close attention to our bodies and our surroundings for a minute or two can help us to ground ourselves in the present moment.


Try this:


5 Sight

Find 5 things around the room that are the same or a similar colour.


4 Sound

Listen for 4 different sounds. (The wind, your breathing, sounds from another room etc)


3 Touch

Notice 3 different sensations in your body. (The feel of your feet on the floor, your back on the chair, your sweater on your wrist etc)


2 Deep Breaths

Take 2 deep breaths, through your nose. Fill your stomach and breathe out through your mouth.


1 Full Body Scan

Close your eyes and start with the top of your head. Scan your entire body from head to toe and notice any stress or tension.
